Words, words, words

I love words. (I love maps too, but that is another story!) Balustrade is one of them. Seems to fit the shape, which is not surprising, as it comes from an italian word (and before that, greek,) for pomegranate.
Now that is another word I like. And hubbub, and Cappadocia, and...... I could go on for a long, long time!
I may be weird, but I always think you are never alone with a dictionary!
A Happy New Year to you all!

I too love words. I like to say them again and again and think about how they came about. My dear friend Singingowl over at the Owls Song is what I refer to as a word monger. I tease her because she uses words I have never heard before or ones that are not common. When I uses to spend time with her and she uses an uncommon word, I would ask it's meaning and call it "the word of the week".

words are wonderful - I love them too, quintessential was one that struck me a while back but there are others :)

Me too! Words that trip off my tongue or swirl inside my head and keep me company are always welcome. every morning when I get to work and turn on my computer, a new word arrives in my email. I try to incorporate it into my conversations everyday.

Often, I get a word in my head and it will be the start of a new piece of writing.

Hello Gilly. Thank you for popping in and commenting on the canal tow-path. I thought I would return the compliment and drop by and visit you, and have just spent a very pleasant half hour scrolling through your posts. Off to pop some more paracetamol now, trying to keep the lurgy at bay - not sure just now who is winning!
