Home and Family

We had a lovely family afternoon yesterday, with four generations all together. A lot of the time was spent admiring the new arrival. Max, our Cocker Spaniel got fed up with the lack of attention and eventually decided to go to sleep!

After all that excitement we thought today had better be a garden day. Our plants aren't looking very tidy, especially the daisies. This is due to the fact I didn't put strong enough or high enough supports! Never mind, they make a nice splash of white!

And the nasturtiums which I fondly imagined would scramble over the netting pointedly refused to climb!

The view from my summer house is very green and peaceful. Its lovely to sit there and read or think, or even fall asleep!

We've put large posters of fruits and vegetables on the walls of the summer house. There are apples and salad greens as well as the tomatoes (I didn't know there were so many kinds of tomatoes!)

And on the ceiling there is the sky at night and all the different kinds of clouds.

Not a very exciting garden, but we like it! Lots of work to do, though, and my husband has to do all the grass mowing, which takes a long time. The weeds are a bit rampant, too, I shall have to try and do something about them!

Like life, really!

Gilly, there is always something to do in the garden, right? Today I cut back my rampant ivy and took down a trellis from one place and put it up in another area. I didn't finish the ivy because it got too hot! Tomorrow will find me hard at work on wedding flowers for Sunday - so no cutting ivy until next week.

It is a lovely garden - no excuses necessary! I'm loving Max with his hot pink collar!

Your flowers look very pretty to me and I love the idea of a summer house to slip away to for a few quiet moments. May you always find joy in your garden, even the chores.

1. Max is precious.
2. How lovely your gardens are! My daisies are looking a bit ragged, too, and my nasturtiums are not behaving at all.
3. My husband worked outside yesterday weeding and putting down mulch in the garden that got away from us -- it was good he did that yesterday, because today it's supposed to be 92* and tomorrow 97!! That's about 36* C, I think...

I'm so glad you got to have a family day. Aren't new babies wonderful in the family? Such joy they bring.

The very idea of a summerhouse sounds so romantic--you have no idea how lovely that seems to me!! Sit and read a book there for me.

A day in the garden is a great way of relaxing and cheering oneself up. Your garden looks lovely. Don't worry about plants that do their own thing.

I love hearing about your garden and seeing your photos...and I can't see the weeds from here :)it just looks lovely. I'd kind of expected nasturtiums to climb too.
