HOMEWARD BOUND

It really is time I posted another blog - where do the days go to? I suppose its all the jollifications we've had over the Queen's Diamond Jubilee that has totally confused me as to what the day of the week it is! However, here are some photos from the last two stops on our cruise. I think they were my favourite places - Madeira was so lovely, full of flowers, and Cadiz had so much history and a beautiful old town. The Jacaranda trees were in bloom along Funchal's wide avenues. The cathedral had some delightful embellishments! The fruit and vegetable market was very colourful............ ........... as were the flowers. Scorpion fish in the fish market didn't attract me! I don't know if the photo will enlarge if you click on it, but they have very sharp teeth!! Our last port of call was Cadiz, in Spain. I loved it! We were berthed practically in the town, just disembark, go through the Port Gate and there we were! Cadiz skyline This is the Post Office! Bit grander than most of our own dear Royal Mail establishments! One of the many squares in the town There were lots of fountains around - I felt cooler just looking at them! Hope you've enjoyed looking at my holiday photos - it seems rather a long way away now.

Fab photos of great places Gilly. I thought of you on holiday when we visited Heligan Gardens as a coach load of Cruise ship passengers were there as they could not make it across to the Scilly's. xxxxx

If it weren't for the carpets with the appropriate days of the week on them -- placed in the ship's elevators, we wouldn't have know (or cared) what the of the week it was!

Oh how beautiful Madeira and Cadiz are!!

I have just caught up with your blog and have enjoyed looking at your photographs of places that I have visited and the more recent ones of places that I would like to see. You should be doing Wish You Were Here!

Oh thanks for such lovely photos! I am such a fan of the bird of paradise flowers. I wonder if I can grow some in my new greenhouse?! Something I will have to look into!

I love traveling vicariously through others - and your photos are lovely!! I don't think I want any of that fish, though.

Looks wonderful Gilly - beautiful flowers, love Jacaranda trees as well.

Blue skies in St Ives today, which has been very welcome indeed (about time)! Lesley x

Oh, those purple trees are beautiful! And the fish are horrible. I did enlarge the picture to see those sharp pointy teeth! I have been away from reading my favorite blogs for a while and now I am trying to get caught up, so here I am at the end of your cruise going backwards! I have been wondering how you enjoyed it. It looks warm and dry, at least. Not like our June here.
I will drop down in the queue and read your adventure in the proper order. I have been eager to hear about it, Gilly!

I agree with Holace. The purple trees are gorgeous but those fish are nasty! Ew.

Thanks for sharing your trip Gilly. How lucky you are to be able to go to such beautiful places!
