Edible

Carmi's Thematic challenge this week is "Edible"

I love summer fruit, especially nectarines and plums. This photo, taken a couple of summers ago, makes me look forward to the time when fruit like that is really ripe, and dripping with juice!

Lovely, Gilly. The nectarines look lovely against the plums. Good to eat and good to look at. Lesley

Aren't those colors luscious and amazing!
I'm eating fresh pineapple chunks for breakfast at the moment =)

Your picture looks good enough to eat - I can just taste the juicy fruit.

I would imagine that growing Asian plums and nectarines would be a challenge in the UK. Local strawberries are on here. They ship the plants in from the mountains, where they get some winter chill. Commercial plums and nectarines are grown here, but it will be a while before we see them - after the apricots and cherries.

Your picture makes the prospect of a hot summer a little more bearable.

What wonderful memeories of eating really ripe plums and having the juice squirt out and down my chin. I try to be a more sedate grown up eater of plums now, but still miss the sticky juicy fun of picking plums and eating that warm fruit with juice running down to my elbow.

I'm suddenly very hungry! This picture reinforces the beauty of diversity. I wish I could reach through my screen and grab one :)

I don't know why but I just never took a liking to plums. I adore nectarines though. We have a peach orchard down the road and sometimes, oh wow, they are like biting into summer. I can't wait till they get ripe! We've been getting a cup of big strawberries from our garden every day now. And the cherries are turning red. Yum!
